Introducing L’Acadiane, Our Newest Sister Restaurant

It has been a little over a week since our final day of service at Baileys’ Chocolate Bar. R&D on the refreshed menu, as well as renovations, are in full swing. We are really happy with the way that the updated Baileys’ Chocolate Bar is shaping up, and we will have some updates for you early next week.

We are also pleased to announce that the first floor of 1915 Park Avenue is now home to our newest restaurant, L’Acadiane! We have always loved Cajun food, but also crave Creole influenced dishes and food found all over New Orleans and Southern Louisiana. L’Acadiane (Acadiana) is a region steeped in history, incredible food heritage and influences, as well as architectural beauty. It also has a strong connection to St. Louis, Lafayette Square in particular.

We decided this Summer would be the right time to open and that we could push really hard and get the change done in five weeks, instead of five months. We are pleased to say that the space looks amazing already and that we just need a few more weeks to apply all of the finishing touches and to hire the new staff. We plan to open the last week of August.

The menu, focused on Acadiana and the surrounding region, will typically have about 15 dishes on rotation, including:

Smoked pork ribs with watermelon pickles
Ham & hominy hushpuppies, creme fraiche
House Boudin corn dogs with cucumber relish and remoulade

Fried Oysters, with romaine, tomato and remoulade
Blackened Fish (rotates), romaine, pickled onion, cucumber ranch
Fried Green Tomato, plum tomato jam, arugula, cucumber slaw

Crab stuffed Missouri catfish, poblano grits, garlic sauce
Fried chicken, cornbread waffle, honey butter, house whiskey hot sauce
Jambalaya with smoked shrimp and house smoked chicken thigh andouille

Drinks will be Southern-inspired cocktails, including riffs on classics like juleps, sazeracs, gimlets, and hurricanes.

More details and exact opening date to follow.

Baileys’ Chocolate Bar Refresh

I am pleased to announce a new restaurant opening, but this one also comes with a goodbye… sort of. It was my dream 13 years ago, that Baileys’ Chocolate Bar (we refer to it affectionately as BCB) would become a St. Louis Institution, a restaurant woven into the fabric of StL, and I couldn’t be more proud that our staff has done just that. However, tastes have changed, StL has changed. It is time for Baileys’ Chocolate Bar (as we know it) to close its doors; our last day of service will be Saturday, July 8th. It will be a bittersweet night for me and the entire BCB family. Bitter because it will be hard to say goodbye, but sweet because we will soon reopen 1915 Park Avenue as two new restaurants.

We are starting the process of renovating the upstairs lounge to an updated and refreshed Baileys’ Chocolate Bar. BCB still has many loyal customers–we can’t tell you how much we appreciate you–and we couldn’t bear the thought of completely closing a place where so many folks had memorable nights with us (first dates, blind dates, engagements, graduations, father/daughter dances, bachelorette parties, girls’ night out, guys’ night out, or just a great cocktail with great friends). We will introduce an updated dessert and drink menu, a curated cheese list, a limited amount of savory offerings, more champagnes and sparkling wines, and some awesome new cocktails. Among the new offerings on the menu, guests will also find a handful of BCB’s beloved signature desserts.

The main floor and patio will be turned into a completely new restaurant that will open in August, more details for that restaurant in late July. We are also still on track to open Hugo’s Pizzeria late Summer and Range on Shaw next year.

We couldn’t be more happy to be breathing new life into the building at 1915 Park Ave. once again. We appreciate and thank the thousands upon thousands that have visited BCB over the last decade, and of course, a huge thank you to our awesome staff. We would not be the restaurant family that we are today without them.

Hugo’s Pizzeria Opening Summer 2017

We couldn’t be more excited about our newest restaurant, Hugo’s Pizzeria, set to open Summer 2017 in Midtown!  Using locally-sourced and house-made ingredients to create a menu loaded with pizzeria-style dishes, including pizza with Roman style crust with house-made sauce, fresh cheeses, and local toppings.  Various salads, appetizers, and sides will also be available in addition to a full bar.  Follow the progress on Social Media @HugosPizzeria and, for Twitter, @HugosPizzaSTL.  You can sample dishes from the menu now at our downtown lunch place, Shift Test Kitchen & Take Out, 313 N. 11th. Street!
